Business Development · Employee · Remote, New Jersey

Director of Business Development

Lead new client acquisitions for Superfactor. Create qualified opportunities, build relationships with decision-makers and turn business needs into well-scoped engagements.

Remote within New Jersey. Applicants must live and work in New Jersey.

The role

We’re looking for a business development leader who knows how to win work for a design and engineering agency. You’ll own the new-business strategy and pipeline, identify the right accounts and lead the conversations that turn interest into a credible opportunity.

This is an active prospecting and selling role. You’ll initiate outreach, run discovery and guide opportunities through proposals and negotiation with the founder and discipline leads. You’ll be accountable for pipeline quality, follow-through and new-client revenue, with targets agreed around the business plan.

What you’ll own

  • Define target markets, priority accounts and a focused new-business plan.
  • Generate opportunities through outbound outreach, referrals and partner relationships.
  • Lead discovery; qualify business needs, budget, decision-makers and timing.
  • Shape pitches and proposals with leadership and delivery specialists.
  • Drive follow-up, negotiation and next steps through to an agreed engagement.
  • Own CRM discipline, forecasts and the handover of commercial commitments.

What we’re looking for

You’ve built your own pipeline and earned the trust of senior buyers. You’re comfortable opening doors, asking difficult qualification questions and keeping a commercial conversation moving without overselling.

Must-haves

  • Senior business development experience in an agency, consultancy or digital services business.
  • A demonstrated record of self-generated pipeline and new-client wins.
  • Strong prospect research, personalized outreach and consultative discovery skills.
  • Experience shaping proposals, navigating procurement and negotiating commercial terms.
  • Fluency in brand, experience, software engineering and digital marketing services.
  • Disciplined CRM management, forecasting and opportunity qualification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relationships with founders, marketing leaders or digital transformation decision-makers.
  • Experience developing referral channels and strategic partnerships.
  • Experience selling AI adoption, systems modernization or product development engagements.

About Superfactor

Superfactor is a business-first design and engineering agency. We help businesses build stronger brands, adopt AI, modernize systems, and create better digital experiences. Alongside client work, we develop our own digital products, creating opportunities to shape both the business and the work it produces.

Our culture

Leadership here means setting direction and staying close to the work. We share ideas early, welcome different perspectives and give direct, constructive feedback. You’ll have room to influence how your discipline operates, with clear responsibility for its standards and delivery.

The pace is purposeful, with concurrent priorities and decisions that cannot always wait for a perfect brief. We make trade-offs openly, raise risks early and follow through on commitments.

We use AI and automation extensively to support research, production and execution. People provide the judgment, protect client trust and take responsibility for the finished work.
